THE NASCHGARTEN

Balanced nutrition and physical activity are important factors in healthy childhood development. One way in which Symrise promotes these values is by supporting the Holzminden Naschgarten: a garden planned and created by children, where they plant, harvest, cook and eat – and where they have fun learning about healthy, natural foods.

The Naschgarten was established in 2007 in cooperation with the Health Association of Lower Saxony and with the Holzminden city and county governments. The University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Holzminden began providing scientific support for the Naschgarten in April 2011.

In recognition of the successful work carried out at the garden, the work group for the “Health Promotion for the Socially Disadvantaged” project, a cooperative venture sponsored by the German Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA), honored the Naschgarten in 2011 with its “GOOD PRACTICE” award. The award once again demonstrates that Symrise and the Naschgarten team are taking the right approach toward encouraging children to eat healthier foods and toward fostering sustainable, equal access to healthy lifestyles.
