In order to further improve the quality and standard of its research activities, Symrise established the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) more than 10 years ago. The SAB consists of independent international scientists and is the indispensable core of our open innovation network.

Currently, five reputed international experts are members of the SAB:

  • Prof. Dr. Jean Krutmann, Director of the Environmental Health Research Institute in Düsseldorf, expert for photobiology (Chairman)
  • Prof. Dr. Thomas Luger, Director of the Dermatological Clinics of the University of Münster, expert for dermatology and immunology
  • Prof. Dr. Peter Elias, dermatologist at the Department for Veterans Medical Affairs of the University San Francisco, expert for skin biology and skin barrier function
  • Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Hanns Hatt, Director of the Institute for Cell Physiology of the Ruhr-University of Bochum, expert for sensory receptors
  • Prof. Dr. Wei Liu, Director of the Dermatologic Department of the General Hospital of Air Force, Beijing, China

The success of our SAB and Open Innovation network is evidenced by a series of new product launches and technologies in the recent past, such as SymRepair®, SymHelios® 1031 and SymSitive® 1609, which received the prestigious BSB Innovation Award in 2006, 2009 and 2010, respectively. We have also prepared several joint publications and conference articles reflecting the high quality and volume of scientific accomplishment that our Open Innovation network has attained.
