FUNCTIONALS
With its emollients and emulsifiers, Symrise offers a wide range of high-quality cosmetic functionals. Functionals cover a variety of needs in cosmetic products: they give them the desired consistency and appearance and have a positive effect on application properties. They also greatly improve care properties and, last but not least, stabilize cosmetic products.
Symrise emollients and emulsifiers are already used in numerous cosmetic products all over the world:
- Emollients take care of the skin: in modern cosmetics, Symrise emollients deliver smoothing, softening and moisturizing properties due to lipids covering the surface of the skin and regulating its moisture content.
- Emulsifiers/solubilizers are essential for emulsions, pure aqueous and aqueous alcoholic systems: the polar (hydrophilic) aqueous phase and the apolar (lipophilic) lipid or oil phase of an emulsion can only be combined stably and homogenously with additives such as Symrise emulsifiers. Symrise also offers a range of specialized emulsifiers for this task, e.g. PEG-free, food-grade, vegetable-based emulsifiers; PEG-free phosphate emulsifiers; PEG-free vegetable-based liquid emulsifiers for cold-cold emulsification (food-grade).
