Scent & Care research is integrated into a close network of national and international research organizations, e.g. in the field of “white biotechnology”.

Our researchers are collaborating with the Frankfurt Biotech Alliance on a project utilizing biotechnological methods from renewable resources for the production of aroma molecules. The project is part of the “BIO2021” initiative supported by the BMBF (Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and is being conducted with the help of the Karl-Winnacker-Institute, DECHEMA e.V., Frankfurt.

In their work on internal and external projects, Scent & Care researchers also draw on the expertise of two leading scientists in their respective fields:

Prof. Dr. Frank Glorius – Dr. Frank Glorius is a professor at the Westfälische Wilhelms University in Münster who advises the synthesis group on the development of new molecules for the Scent & Care product line. In addition to contributing his expertise on new and modern catalysts, he also helps our researchers improve our production processes to make them more sustainable and efficient. Though still in an early stage of his academic career, his research has already been honored with numerous prestigious awards such as the Alfried Krupp Award for young professors.

Dr. Hanns Hatt – Dr. Hanns Hatt, a professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum and bearer of multiple doctoral titles, is considered one of the world’s leading scientists in the field of electrophysiology and fragrance research. He was the first to isolate fragrance receptors und subsequently identify the corresponding ligands. This knowledge will make it easier to predict the properties and effects of aroma molecules. He was recently awarded the 2010 Communicator prize for his contributions to research on the sense of smell.
