Sustainability

— Symrise leads the energy and materials sector and the MDAX stock index.

Symrise AG successfully retained its position in the Climate A List of this year’s CDP climate change reporting for the German-speaking region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland – known as the DACH region). This achievement signifies Symrise’s leadership in the energy and materials sector, as well as in the German MDAX stock index. The award was presented to Symrise in Munich on October 25 as part of the CDP DACH Climate Leadership Award Conference & Ceremony.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) gave Symrise an “A” rating for the 2016 CDP Climate Scoring for the DACH region. CDP recognized Symrise as a sector leader for the category energy and materials and as an index/country leader for the MDAX. This puts Symrise among the top 4 % of MDAX companies and among the top 11 % of its industry.

Hans Holger Gliewe, Symrise Chief Sustainability Officer, comments, “Sustainability forms the basis for all our actions, and we view it as a key factor to our success. The fact that the CDP has again included us on its Climate A List shows that our measures and strategies to reduce our carbon footprint make us one of the leading companies worldwide for emissions reduction and transparency. We will continue to systematically pursue the course that we have set and to do so on a global scale, of course.”

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international nonprofit organization that makes available to companies and cities a system – the only one globally – that can measure, assess and publish an entity’s environmental impact. Thousands of companies make their climate data available to the CDP annually so that its methods can be used to evaluate these companies’ environmental friendliness. CDP Climate Scores are awarded on a scale of A to F (A, A-, B, B-, C, C-, D, D-, F). Symrise belongs to the top 9 % who have made it into the A List of the CDP. This is a recognition of the company’s efforts to reduce emissions and to actively work against climate change.
