Emollients

Emollients play a key role in cosmetic products for the adjustment of different sensorial profiles. Properties of personal care products such as moisturizing, lubricating, protecting, conditioning and softening can be influenced by the choice of suitable emollients.

We are looking back on decades of experience in R&D leading into successful launches of novel cosmetic ingredients like our PCL-Liquid®, mimicking the protection mechanisms of the preen-gland oil of waterfowl in the 1960s already. Or more recently our SymMollient® W/S, a hydrophilic emollient awarded in 2016 for its itch preventing efficacy in cosmetic rinse-off formulations. Our SymMollient® PDCC based on 100% renewable ingredients, underlines our consequent approach towards a high degree of sustainability and naturalness in cosmetics.

Emulsifiers

A widely-used form of personal care formulations are emulsions found in skin care, sun care, body care and decorative cosmetics. Emulsifiers are the most important ingredients in order to guarantee stable emulsions. But beyond this basic requirement, emulsifiers have a remarkable influence on the sensorial skin feel depending on their composition and the way they are formulated. Following the needs of our customers, we have recently expanded our pallet with COSMOS approved ingredients.

Solubilizers

The proper incorporation of oil-soluble actives or botanicals is key for their performance. Solubilization of fragrances in aqueous based cosmetic products is a prerequisite for a stable formulation. Symrise solubilizers are optimized blends of amphiphilic substances giving synergistic solubilizing efficacy. The development of these blends benefits from our in-house expertise in Actives, Botanicals, Sun Protection and Fragrances.
