Only a small portion of the sun’s radiation reaches the earth’s surface
Of this radiation, over half is received as infra-red (heat), nearly 40% as visible light and about 5% as invisible UV radiation. UV radiation that reaches the earth surface is split into two categories, UVA and UVB. All these forms of radiation can contribute to short-term and long-term skin damages.

UVA radiation is the less energetic part of UV radiation with wavelengths between 320 to 400 nm. It can significantly contribute to erythema and long-term skin damage.
Our scientists have developed a range of UVA absorbers to combat these issues.
UVB presents the main cause of sunburn and skin reddening, tending to damage the more superficial epidermal layers of the skin, whilst also being a key contributor to the development of skin cancer.
Our UVB absorber range provides ingredients suitable to formulate products for a broad variety of consumer needs and expectations conforming to the different regional legislations.
If a UV filter absorbs both UVA and UVB, it is referred to as a broad-spectrum absorber.
