How does Symrise’s work impact the environment, society and the economy? Since 2006, the fragrance and flavoring manufacturer has been reporting these impacts in its annual Sustainability Report. Recently, DQS CFS GmbH – German Association for Sustainability conducted an independent audit and confirmed that the disclosures in the latest publication are complete and correct according to the strict guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
Sustainability has a high value at Symrise and is seen in diverse areas – from resource-conserving and low-emission production methods to our commitments on preserving biodiversity, helping our staff advance and maintaining socially equitable cooperations with suppliers from around the world. The company reports on these issues every year in its Sustainability Report. To assure all stakeholders that the report contains the material aspects for evaluating Symrise’s sustainability and that the disclosures and key figures provided were ascertained with the necessary care, DQS has verified and confirmed the report via an audit based on the AA1000 Assurance Standard. The Symrise Sustainability Report 2015 therefore carries the “Trusted GRI Report – Externally Assured” seal.
“Since 2006, we have continually improved our sustainability reporting up to the GRI Level A,” explains Dr. Helmut Frieden, Vice President Corporate Sustainability at Symrise, commenting on the company’s path to receiving the GRI seal. “At the same time, we annually integrate sustainability objectives and programs into our corporate strategy. The external certification from DQS is the next logical step and provides our stakeholders with additional confidence.”
