Symrise is introducing its tropolone-based SymDiol 68T and SymOcide PT. New data confirms the antioxidant effect of tropolone: It works effectively to protect from primary and secondary free radicals and stabilizes organic compounds that prevent oxidation. It also reduces protein oxygenation by 60 percent and the formation of peroxides in sunflower oil by 45 percent. Thanks to these properties tropolone supports the product protection system of formulations.

Developed to improve the product protection system of cosmetic formulations, SymDiol 68T, a multifunctional and antioxidant, helps to prevent the formation of yeast, bacteria, as well as mold and stabilizes emulsions. It also possesses proven moisturizing properties. SymDiol 68T works well in skin, sun, hair, and personal care products as well as color cosmetics.

SymOcide PT offers an antioxidant and antimicrobial effect, acting against bacteria as well as fungi. Therefore, conventional preservatives, such as formaldehyde donors, parabens and isothiazolinones, get less attractive and less used in modern product protection. SymOcide PT works well in skin, hair and personal care products, sun protection and color cosmetics.
