This year’s PCHi Innovation Award honored two highly effective cosmetic ingredients from Symrise. SymHair® Force 1631 succeeded as breakthrough ingredient of the year for its hair-fortifying properties. In the functionals/preserving category, SymSave® H won the award with its truly multifunctional and stabilizing properties. Both products also convinced the jury of their relevance for Asian customers and consumers.
The highlight of this year’s Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) trade show was the award ceremony for the most innovative cosmetic ingredients. The China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Awards (PCHi Awards) were presented during a festive ceremony in the Shanghai New International Expo Center. The awards honor innovative products and technologies that drive development in the personal care and cosmetics industry in China.
In 2014, Symrise took home two of the PCHi Awards, one for SymHair® Force 1631 as “Breakthrough Ingredient of the Year” and one for SymSave® H in the functionals/preserving category.
SymHair® Force 1631 is a new natural and highly potent active ingredient made from microalgae for hair loss prevention. A clinical study has attested to its effectiveness and users were also convinced by its hair-strengthening properties. According to their evaluation, it fortifies hair and improves hair density. In an ex vivo assay on human hair follicles, SymHair® Force 1631 proved to be effective after eight days of treatment and provides thicker and more voluminous hair.
With SymSave® H, Symrise has developed a truly nature-identical, multifunctional ingredient. Its antioxidant, soothing, emulsion-stabilizing and preservative-boosting properties make it the ideal component for all types of skin and hair care formulations. It helps enhance the efficacy of a wide range of preservatives and protect a whole range of formulations.
“We feel very proud that we have won two awards during this year’s PCHi. It proves that we understand what customers and consumers in Asia care about. We will continue to search for cosmetic ingredients that are of relevance for the local market,” says Chung Sin Wong, Vice President Symrise Life Essentials Asia Pacific. “Topics such as whitening are and will be of great importance in Asia. We also are seeing a shift towards anti-irritant, skin-soothing solutions. In Asia too, people view their skin as reacting increasingly sensitively to various influences. For this reason, we offer formulators of cosmetic products alternative preservative systems that allow them to develop milder products,” continues Wong.
At PCHi 2014, the Symrise staff again discussed whitening, sensitive skin products, preservatives and preservative-free formulations with visitors. These topics continue to be in line with the trend in the cosmetics and toiletries industry in China. The application samples at the Symrise booth reflected this environment. Symrise Life Essentials specialists from China and the Asia Pacific region contributed their regional expertise to support the on-site Symrise Scent & Care team.
